This is my Hawaii Time. Every summer, I spend 5 or 6 weeks in Hawaii. The island is a second home to me. I am sitting in the open lobby of a resort, feeling the island breeze, watching the palm trees sway, and seeing the different colors of the ocean as sun lowers in the bluest-of-blue skies. It is one of my favorite places. I feel the inspiration and creativity flowing. What is the source of my inspiration and creativity?
None of the above.
Maybe I am spoiled or ungrateful. Perhaps I am a can’t-see-the-forest-for-the-trees person. More likely, I am feeling inspired by other things happening around me. People are talking in various tones, taking pictures, texting, working on their computers, laughing, eating and drinking, scolding their children, and gazing at the ocean. I feel the connection, the energy, and the inspiration.
But I am not a “people person.” I am a writer who is inspired by the energy of ordinary people living their lives. They spark my interest, my curiosity, my awe, and some even spark my respect. I like watching people and feeling what lies beneath. There is my inspiration.
So, I am raving today about the many places and circumstances that can bring inspiration. These places and situations are not always obvious, popular, or logical. But they can be found anywhere. I am open to inspiration whenever, wherever, and from whatever source. Today, I found inspiration in the midst of strangers and I am surprisingly inspired by their energy.
Where do you find inspiration?
